Hydrotite is a popular product used in the construction industry for the purposes of sealing structures and preventing leaks, pooling and damage to the structural integrity of a structure. What is it?

Hydrotite is made out of a unique mix of expanding materials which combine with non-expanding rubber. These two combine to form a single strip of material which can be placed into the joints in the concrete structure. In doing so, the blue section of the strip can expand when it meets contact with water. This way, it pushes against the non-expanding section of the strip to form a tight seal. This only activates through water absorption, making it a perfect tool to use for structures which will be exposed to large bodies of water. It forms a perfectly tight seal which adds pressure, and completely restricts any water from breaking through and leaking into the structures. It is easy to see why Hydrotite is a commonly used project in the construction industry, especially with structures which will be exposed to large bodies of water.

Where would be it be used?

As mentioned previously, it is used in the construction industry for projects which may be exposed to large bodies of water. These would include swimming pools, reservoirs, dams, sewage canals and tunnels and so on. All of these structures are made to be submerged or constantly in contact with water and other liquids. Any structure can be susceptible to water damage and leaks, which can cause issues in the long term. Consequently, Hydrotite must be utilized within the joins in these structures to stop water from leaking through and causing damage. These products are placed in the joins and will expand after coming into contact with water, and thereby will expand and form a tight seal, restricting water from entering the outside of the structure.
